EPC Project Manager /Owners Rep

We are offering a unique opportunity to take a leadership role in the rehabilitation of a world class copper project that shows the potential to have an immediate impact on the global production scene. This client has the wherewithal and financial backing to fast track this project into operation and take advantage of the burgeoning world demand for copper.


Acting as the owner's representative the Project Manager will oversee work of various EPC consultants. In summary you will manage coordinate and control all aspects of project execution, contract deliverables and stakeholder relationships with due regard for agreed professional standards, cost budgets and technical controls.



  • - Determine and approve the overall project planning requirements
  • - Direct the establishment of appropriate project milestones.
  • - Interrogate all proposed changes from the approved plan and approve the incorporation of agreed changes within the overall project scope.
  • - Monitor the progress of the engineering input, to ensure program adherence and compliance in respect of safety and specifications.
  • - Monitor the detailed cost of potential overruns.
  • - Direct the regular evaluation and auditing of technical designs
  • - Promote the development and selection of appropriate concepts and innovative technologies, to meet the requirements of the overall project brief.
  • - Review resource requirements and resource utilization figures in respect of contractor's staffing capacities; materials inventory status; machines and equipment; to facilitate delivery and the elimination of bottlenecks.
  • - Schedule and conduct regular site inspection meetings to monitor and evaluate work in progress, in relation to the agreed implementation/construction plan.
  • - Oversee the establishment of a record system for site support decisions, to evaluate their impacts on safety, costs, construction and other efficiencies




  • - A minimum of 15 years experience managing large multi-million dollar projects in the mining and mineral processing industry.
  • - Remote developing country experience would be valued.
  • - A tertiary engineering / project management qualification is desirable.
  • - Ability to communicate in French and English would be an asset.
  • - Good analytical background and commercial acumen.
  • - Ateam player, excellent communication skills, astrong motivator with leadership skills, stamina anddrive.
  • - Flexibility and creative, a self-starter.
  • - Availability to travel frequently between remote project site and South Africa.
